With this motto in mind APSG is relentlessly working on to improve its student’s literary skills.
On 20 January’ 2024 Parents and students at Army Public School Golconda participated in an engaging reading workshop, designed to promote love for reading among students.
The workshop, led by a professional instructor Mrs Ritu Vaish who has specialisation in English skill development courses for school children with twelve years of experience in conducting workshops, camps and specialised training programmes for parents and students,focused on strategies to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary development, and critical thinking skills in students . She explained how through engaging activities and discussions, parents can encourage their children to think critically about the texts they read and to develop a deeper understanding of the material.
She emphasised on various strategies to get children interested in reading , importance of fluency, creating environment for reading, most common problems faced by children while reading etc
After the grand success of the event held on 20th January, the reading festival was extended exclusively for the students of classes 4th and 5th on 24th January 2024.
Highly professional resource people Mrs. Sujana Borugadda regional head of soft skills department and Mrs. Geeta. K team leader of soft skills department of Narayana group of institutions Telangana and Tamilnadu, guided the children about four types of reading skills -skimming, scanning, intensive and extensive reading and their application. Children thoroughly enjoyed the interactive and activity based session.
These workshops were a part of APSG’s ongoing commitment to provide students with opportunities to develop their reading skills. By offering workshops and programs that focus on literacy, APSG aims to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
The school was thrilled to see it’s parents & students' enthusiasm and engagement during these workshops. It's clear that they took away valuable skills and knowledge that will benefit them and their children immensely.
